Dancing on the Earth with Shizuno Nasu
Creative Dance Classes Return to Volcano Art Center

Volcano, HI – Volcano Art Center celebrates creative dance with internationally renowned and classically trained dance artist Shizuno Nasu. The exuberant praise for Nasu’s 2011 spring dance and movement classes was the only prompting needed for Volcano Art Center to collaborate with her on a new summer series to begin in June.

“Watching Shizuno dance is pure magic; she always takes my breath away,” stated Volcano Art Center CEO Tanya Aynessazian. “We are delighted she has created this new series for us. ‘Dancing on the Earth’ promises to be our most enchanting class this summer.”

Each class will begin with warm-up stretches to provide conditioning, balance and vitality for physical health. The focus will then transition to learning expressive dance movements based on Hara Tanden chi energy theory. These Asian techniques inspired by the wind, water and fire energies increase concentration and enlightenment of the spirit through fluid motion and relaxation.

Dancing on the Earth with Shizuno Nasu is a four-part series that begins on Saturday, June 2. Subsequent classes will be held July 7, August 4 and September 1. All classes are open to all levels – including beginners and non-dancers – and will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village. Tuition is $45 or $40.50 for VAC members for each session. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.
